REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL APPRAISERS

Continuing Education Requirement

Every appraiser is required to complete 30 hours of approved continuing education, including the 7-Hour National USPAP Update Course, during every two-year license period.

You must complete your continuing education and renew your license on or before August 31st of the year in which your license expires.

Not sure when your license expires? The expiration date is printed on the license itself. It can also be found by using the MN Department of Commerce License Lookup Directory: http://www.commerce.state.mn.us/LicenseLookupMain.html.

First-Time Renewals

Those appraisers renewing their license for the first time in Minnesota must complete 15 classroom hours of approved continuing education courses (including the 7-Hour National USPAP Update Course) during the initial license period, and 30 hours during every two-year license period thereafter.

Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) Update Requirement

As part of the continuing education requirements, all appraisers (including those renewing for the first time) must receive at least seven hours of training each license period in courses on standards of professional appraisal practice to fulfill the USPAP update requirement.
